Jan, Gari and Me

I did not even learn your language.
But because of you,
I was able to perceive
and appreciate
the beauty and wonders
beyond the limits of the spoken word;
that nonetheless
warms one's heart
and penetrates one's spirit.

And as time continues to move forward,
I will recall, for certain,
our warm friendship
and the powerful brotherhood
that binds each of us.

This, too,
I will grieve over
in my pending flight.
