FIN—Rev. Regulus Porlucas, SDB and Rev. Glenn Joseph Protacio, SDB were ordained to the ministry of priesthood yesterday, December 8, in a jam-packed St. John Bosco Parish in Makati City Philippines.
Attended by some 1,000 individuals composed largely of the members of the Salesian family, young people from various Don Bosco settings in the FIN, and regular parishioners, our two newly ordained priests prove once more how God shows His magnanimous love for the work of our confreres in the Philippine North Province by hailing ministers to take care of His young people.
His Excellency Joel Baylon of the Diocese of Legazpi and chair of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines-Episcopal Commission on Youth was their ordaining prelate.
In his profound words during his homily, Bishop Baylon alluded to the 'no' of Adam and Eve to the 'yes' of the 14-year old Virgin, an obvious contrast which confronts our ordinands not only on their day of ordination, but for the rest of their lives as Salesian priests.
It is not a coincidence that they chose the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Mother to offer their lives as Salesian priests.
Frs. Reggie and Glenn trace their friendship all the way from their entry to the juniorate seminary in Pampanga some 15 years ago. Currently, they are assigned in Don Bosco Seminary in Canlubang as Prefect of Discipline and Spiritual Director of Don Bosco Academy in Pampanga, respectively.
at first i thought it was really that jam-packed... later on i learned that the others who arrived late were not there for the ordination but for the mass scheduled right after it...
