Fr. Keith Michael T. Simbulan, SDB was ordained by Most Rev. Broderick Pabillo, SDB, DD, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Manila at the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians. Fr. Eligio Cruz, SDB, the FIN Provincial together with some 60 priests concelebrated.
In his homily, Bishop Pabillo shared with Fr. Kim that one way to attain happiness in the priestly ministry is “to be humble and be with the humble of the land.” The prelate also urged him “to become what you celebrate… and become an imitation of the Master.”
Noting the various graces Fr. Kim received throughout his 30 years of existence, he picked “I will bless the Lord at all time; praise shall be always on my lips” (cf. Psalm 34:2) as a fitting theme for his ordination. In his speech, the newly ordained Fr. Kim acknowledged that he is “a Salesian because of the young” and challenged those who feel the call to the religious life to not be afraid in offering their ‘yes’ to God.
His former seminary companions provided valuable contribution in the animation of the liturgy. Fr. Kim acknowledged and thanked them for coming.
It is interesting to note that the choir was a strong power cast of more than 100 members, composed of aspirants, pre-novices and 1st and 2nd year high school students who were the sopranos and the altos.
The family and relatives of Fr. Kim filled the Shrine together with the members of the Salesian family. Young people from various Salesian settings, especially from those which Fr. Kim carried out his apostolate, came in full force. However, the biggest delegation came from the Don Bosco Canlubang packing more than 500 students, teachers and staff.
